Advanced Pure Air Newport 9000 Air Purifier

Very Pleased Shopping for the right air cleaner in my opinion is more of a challange than shopping for a new car. I studied most all of them and found that there are many con-games going on with cleaver advertise schemes. I ended up purchasing both Newport 9000 and the Sharp FP-N60CX because I couldn't decide. And I love both. It has been six months and they are on all the time -- contineous. I have four large dogs, the air is fresh and my girfriend with dog allergies is doing fine. I have found both reliable economical and working as advertised. I use the Newport in the larger living-room and the Sharp in the bedroom. They both appear to be on the leading edge of technology sampling the air and automatically adjust. Both are operating in the automatic mode day and night -- noise is not a problem. Perfectly Satisfied. AMAZING product, recommended for all This product is awesome. I don't care about what they say regarding noisy air purifiers, or large or whatever. This product beats it all. First it has 4 speeds and an auto mode, when it on medium or high it's almost as comparable to a regular fan, but still not as noisy as an A/C. Also it's REALY QUIET on quiet speed, believe me you won't hear a thing (maybe the white noise a little). Then There's awesome looking shape of it. It looks nice so it'll go well with your furniture. Then there's the amazing power of purifying the air. It utilizes a 9 stage system for filtering, believe me it works. I smoke cigars, and turn this beast on to get rid of the smoke, so that my wife doesn't get on my case. After running for 8 hours on high no cigar smoke or smell at all. THIS IS GOOD PEOPLE, I'm talking about cigars here not cigarettes, or cooking or pet odor. Plus when its on auto mode, it has a sensor so whenever it picks up on dust or odor it kicks into high gear to get rid of the smell and then cools back down. Last and maybe a key factor, this air purifier is considerably cheaper than most and gets the job done better than it's more expensive adversaries. So I recommend this air purifier for those looking for a system that delivers great power but at a reasonable price. Awesome I bought this product at http://www.breathemoreeasily.com , but wanted to share my feedback in this forum. It has dramaitcally increased the "breatheability" of my air. I suffer from MCS, astham, and severe allergies, and the use of this product has helped tremendously...and even allowed me to reduce the amount of medication I take! It has already paid for itself!

Standing just 13 inches tall, this portable air purifier features a sleek, compact design that works great when traveling or in areas with limited space. Just plug it in to create a personal clean-air zone. The air purifier's filter sits cradled in its square docking station, which contains a quiet 12V DC fan for practically silent operation. The docking station also houses an electrostatic ionizer, which releases negative charges into the air to make airborne particles cling more easily to the filter media and to increase overall cleaning efficiency. Using patented three-stage HEPASilent technology, the air purifier captures 99.97-percent of the smallest 0.1 micron particles on level one, including allergy-provoking pollen grains, dust mites, mold spores, and pet dander particles. The filter and docking station form a compact module that delivers cleaner air at the rate of 45 cubic feet per minute. The unit offers an ideal solution for people living with allergies, asthma, or other respiratory conditions, or for anyone who wants cleaner, more breathable air. Maintenance consists of simply opening the unit and lifting out and sliding in filters every six months. Choose the optional SmokeStop Filter Kit for better protection from smoke and other airborne gases. Energy efficient and attractively designed, the personal air purifier measures 2-3/4 by 6-1/2 by 13 inches and carries a five-year limited warranty.
Excellent product, but could provide more bang for the buck This small, efficient air purifier is a great addition to my desk at work. It consists of a metallic fan base, and a big, cardboard enclosed hepa filter which plugs in behind the fan (the filter is the blue part depicted in the photo). The fan pulls air through the filter. It is simple but effective. It filters the air in my immediate vicinity and helps me breathe better (I have allergies and asthma). A worthwhile investment, since I spend a good portion of the day at my desk. It has an ionizer on the back, but truthfully, I'm not sure what kind of effect that has. They recommend changing the filter at least every four months, and the company has a program where you can enroll to receive filters at specified intervals. Filters cost $24.95 for one, and $39.95 for a set of two. When I purchased this, I intended it as something I could transport with me when I travel, since it is so light and small. However, it is fragile and the first time I took it with me somewhere, it got a scratch on the filter from some minor shuffling. I would like to see a protective bag included along with this product to enable transporting it safely. At $99.99, it is pricey for a personal air purifier. The main benefit of this air purifier over others is its minimalistic, aesthetically pleasing design. If a carrying bag were included, I would feel that I am getting my money's worth for this. Keep looking...honestly!!!! The size of this air purifier is appealing. However, the one thing they do not tell you is that the filter is actually enclosed in a perforated cardboard box and once opened, the cardboard box attaches to the air purifier and that is how it stays! The filter box bends easily and get crushed easily. The filter looks highly unattractive and very cheap. I will not diplay/use this anywhere and this was a total waste of $100 plus shipping. I picked this over many other choices because I needed one for travel and thought it would work in the office too. This will not even stay safe on an office desk. I should have gone with other choices available. Engineered nicely for its purpose Most air purifiers on the market intended for a desk-top are still kind of bulky. They're usually plastic structures with a replaceable filter on the inside. The AIRPOD takes a different approach. It's simply a well-built fan, with the air filter attaching directly to the fan. The filter is housed in a nice looking cardboard enclosure - the whole thing slides onto the fan structure. When it's time to replace the filter, you replace the filter+cardboard all at once... meaning you can even change designs if you want (white/black/blue/pink). Benefits: 1) There is no bulky structure. Fits nicely on a desktop. 2) It's fairly quiet. The fan is also adjustable (infinitely) so you can turn it down to a speed that matches the noise level in your office. At its fastest speed though, it is still not very loud, but it is noticable. 3) Simple design cleans the air well. I moved into a new office space recently where there is noticable dustiness/mustiness in the air. I've had the AIRPOD running all morning now on my desk next to my computer, and the air in my cube smells nice and clean. 4) The fan is well-built, and seems durable. A previous reviewer said it was costly at $99. It is now selling below $60, which I think is a fair price for breathing well in the office. Cons: 1) Emits a very quiet high pitched sound while on. I'm usually sensitive to high pitched sounds that are emitted from electronics (TVs especially) since I have very good hearing. However, the sound coming from this fan is not an annoyance to me so far. 2) It is not "silent". You certainly hear the fan, but it is not louder then most desktop PC cooling fans.

Surprising benefit - quieter! Ordinarily I would not be particularly excited about odor-removing filters. However, I was surprised after installing my first replacement set of odor filters that my purifier (model 04163) ran much quieter at the lowest speed setting. I'm not entirely sure of the added electrical cost of running these filters (I have pet birds that generate a lot of dust and dander and the filters run 24/7), but it may be that the reduced fan speed to get the same air discharge will save me money. Nice! Easy to change These carbon filters work great! The room smells cleaner & fresh. It is very easy to change them!*** Make sure you order the right size!*** Change it every 3 months (as sugested)*** Lightly vacumme the filter once a month (if your house is dusty or you have pets) These filters also fit the Hamilton Beach Air Cleaner Model 04152 Although it doesn't mention it, these filters also fit the Hamilton Beach Air Cleaner Model 04152. I had to email Hamilton Beach to find out, but they were very helpful and responded right away. When the filters arrived from Amazon, I saw that on the box it says "Fits Models 04162, 04163 & 04152." With our cat and houseful of antiques, we always seem to have dust bunnies floating around. I run this model in our office, under the table which holds the computer. Since placing it there I have noticed the buildup of dust around the modem is almost entirely eliminated. I placed the larger model in our living room and it certainly is doing its job. The regular settings can be louder than expected, but I leave them on the "whisper quiet" setting when we're in that room and I don't even notice them being on. I would definitely recommend the Hamilton Beach air cleaners.

Disappointing I guess my first review got rejected for the mention of a certain website regarding the word ripoff. This was a fairly important point, so I'll try to make note of why. Unfortunately my first review was a little better, but here goes: First I'll give a report of my experiences with product failure and customer service, then I'll give some general impressions after using the unit for a little less than a year. Recently my red 'clean' light came on, and no matter how clean the blades and wires were, the clean light would come on after the unit was powered on. This happens after 11 months of mostly continuous use. I emailed Ionic pro, and got a phone number to call. I called this number and they gave me another phone number to call. It turns out that the first phone number was for Ionic Pro sales, and the second was for retail sales (even though my email specified "I bought this thing from Amazon"). The second phone call resulted in the need to troubleshoot. Since I had done some research online, and since I had a second unit, I knew it was the unit itself - not the blades. If I didn't have the twin pack I wouldn't have had the ability to diagnose this problem - with or without the service representative. It could have been the blades - apparently running the unit on high power shortens the blade life. The blades "dull" and must be replaced. Or something in the body of the unit breaks and the whole unit needs replaced. My option was as follows. Fax a copy of my sales receipt to a bogus fax number. This is where my first review was stopped. Looking this phone/fax number online gave disturbing results leading me to believe it was a bogus fax (the ripoff report). After (or in addition to faxing) I had to ship the unit to them with a copy of the receipt. When they got the unit they would call me for my credit card number so they could ship a new unit. The joke here, is that I pay to ship the broken unit to them, and I pay for shipping on the new unit. I have no idea how much it would cost for me to ship to them, but the shipping of the new unit via USPS was $29.99. So I can only imagine that my under warranty replacement would cost me roughly $60. The replacement process seems rather inefficient, costly, and has some suspicious details. I must say the representative on the second phone call was nice and helpful. But the service options are disappointing. All in all, this product is fairly noisy. When it buzzes you are supposed to lift a little lever to clean the wires, this hardly makes a difference. It was quiet for a few days, then I was never able to attain silence again - no matter how clean everything looked. There is also an annoying bright blue LED that leaves a nice bright spot on the ceiling. Sure this could be covered up with tape. After a few weeks of what I thought was success with this product, I almost bought a set for my parents. I'm certainly glad I didn't. Given the costs of under warranty replacement, the sale price is no real bargain. I have yet to decide whether I'll return the unit and pay IP another $60, but I doubt it. Love the purifier, car ones are worthless Love the purifier. I have a 1000 sq ft townhouse, so use this one downstairs. (bought this exact one elsewhere, but didn't get 2) - it's a great price if I didn't already have one.. I bought one for $100. I know when it's time to clean it, because it makes a static noise, almost like a bug zapper.. but not that loud. The car ionizer is useless to me. First off, when you plug it in, this annoying blue light comes on, and you can't turn it off. At night, it's really distracting while you're driving, and I didn't see a difference in my SUV. My vent air freshener works better than that thing. Works great for a while - then dies I was very pleased with these units until about a month ago. I had them running continously for about 11 months...then both units started giving the red "clean" light no matter how clean they are. Several other people have written about this problem, so I won't do into further frustrating details. Bottom line: only buy these if you don't mind having them go bad for no apparent reason after about a year of use. It looks like Amazon offers a warranty for purchase, so that might be the way to go - but be sure to read the fine print to make sure you'll be able to have the units replaced when they inevitably go bad!

Air Free P1000 Air Purifier With 99% Efficiency
From Air Free

Most air purifiers use a purification technology such as UV light, ozone or a filter to clean the air of contaminants. UV light and ozone are unhealthy to come in contact with and filters need to be replaced after a certain amount of time. The Airfree P1000 Air Purifier is unique because it does no use any harmful technologies and never requires maintenance.

Very efficient and completely silent I have one of these in my bedroom. It is extremely efficient and completely silent. It gets a bit hot on top, but it doesn't seem to be a problem. It also has a blue light - you can regulate its intensity or simply turn it off. It is a really good product. Exceptional machine This machine successfully removed the aspergillis mold from my room. I have serious lung disease and am highly allergic to mold- i did a mold test before and after having it in place for 1 week- and it worked wonders- mold was gone! i haven't even explored what other benefits it has, ie smells etc- i'm so happy with this result.

Oreck XL Tabletop Air Purifier, Black

It works. Quite simply a very effective way of filtering the air. I won 2 so I know what I am talking about. I smoke a lot indoors and you will be amazed at how quickly it can clear out a room of cigarette smoke. My wife things I already quit smoking so I smoke when she isnt home. I tried HEPA and Ionizers. HEPA works but I have to keep replacing the filter because cigarette smoke somehow clogs the filter to the point that the filter smells like a cigarette filter. Cigarette smoke is the good test of how good an air filter is. I love it. Try it. It is actually really fun to watch the smoke cloud vanish. Very flimsy parts and crackles after first wash I bought two of these purifiers after watching a tv program. I was really surprised to find how cheap all the parts are for something that costs several hundred dollars (that's what I paid when I purchase it). It worked pretty well for the first few months but after I rinsed it (exactly according to directions), it started to crackle. I called Oreck and they said it crackles when something gets lodged in there. I wonder why it didn't do it for ths first few months. Overall, I'm very disappointed with this product and will never buy another Oreck again. Happy Oreck Customer Going On 10 Years I've tried the Hepa filter brands and found them to be unable to totally "scrub" the air as fast or through as the Oreck. My husband was a chain smoker our first 3 years of marriage and I had purchased a $400 Austin Air Healthmate air purifier. It had an enormous filter and boasted of scrubbing the air down to .01 micron. Well, honestly all it did was push the air around. There was no way to thoroughly clean the filter, and the charcoal replacement cost was just not affordable like Oreck. I've used other brands as well, but I came back to Oreck, bought a vacuum cleaner and cordless iron and have been a very pleased customer ever since.

Bionaire BAP1500-U Tower Air Purifier
From Bionaire

Beautiful Tower Design Air Purifier with HEPA type permanent filter from Bionaire for 170-square feet area
Amazon Sales Rank: #92419 in Kitchen & Housewares Brand: Bionaire Model: BAP1500-U Released on: 2004-09-25 Dimensions: 10.70 pounds

Fresh air.... The unit produces fresh, buoyant air with a minimum of noise on the low setting. Noisy to very noisy on the medium to high settings, but then you would only need to use those settings when called for, such as when I cook. The oscillation option is unnecessary for this unit and it has an annoying click when it snaps back in the other direction. Also, the back panel covering the filters seems flimsy. Still, this unit seems more functional (and less expensive) than many other filters I examined. Does What It's Supposed To Do I'm giving the Bionaire four stars because it does what it's advertised to do. If you suffer from severe alergies or asthma, this probably will not help you. The Bionaire BAP1500 has given me a large degree of relief during allergy seasons. My allergies aren't acute but I usually go through several uncomfortable weeks each fall and spring. If I run the Bionaire at night in my bedroom (10x15), I sleep just fine. On the other hand, you would need at least two of these for a large living room or dining room. Other features: Three separate speeds, plus ionic air filtering as well. Easy to clean. Gets noisy if using the high air flow setting. BAP 1500 U A good air cleaner but noisy even on low. Also they have an oscillating feature that mokes a click on the one side. Both that I have make the same click. Filter cleaning is easy but the stage one filter gets dirty very quickly. I vacuum it regularly and rinse and clean the stage one about every 10 days. Both the ion feature and the replaceable filters make this an easy choice for the money, but, do not discount the noise factor and the click in oscillation. I also would not use in a construction area to keep down the dust. The outside of the tower acts like a magnet in heavt dust.

Amcor Plasma Cool PC-14E portable air conditioner is Amazing!! Plasma Cool PC-14E Portable Air Conditioner I recently came across some postings on amazon.com that reviewed another Amcor Plasma Cool air conditioner - PLM14000EH 14000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner with 4,300-BTU Heat. Apparently, some people I have spoken with have been confused between this model and new model called Plasma Cool Portable PC-14E Air Conditioner. PC-14E is a new model that is equipped with AutoDrain and NanoMist technology - meaning no water to drain ever. And this amazing technology really works because I am an owner of this unit. The new model is much quieter unit as well. PLM14000EH 14000-BTU had some issues with noise and water drainage (for those consumers who did not use the continuous drainage function that this ac comes with). However, the new model - PC-14E overcomes all that plus provides great cooling effect for an area larger that 500 sq. ft. (I do not have too many heat sources in my apartment except frequent usage of kitchen). If you would like to get more information on this model - read up very useful information on plasmacoolportableac website. This site has great details on not only the features and specifications of the unit, but also substantial information on pretty much everything you need to know about a portable ac. A video shows how the No Drain - AutoDrain technology works, and how a portable ac can be installed through a window. Lastly, the ac unit is ultra modern and fits into my décor very well.

Simple yet pretty efficent! I wanted this last year for christmas, I did not get it. I saw it in a Walgreens ad this year, and thought about it again. We bought one tonight. This system works by a plastic piece that comes down from the top and "swirls" the water around and pulls it kinda like a fan and tornado all in one. The "swirling" tornado affect causes the water to drip around the sides like rain. Air is pulled in through one side on the top, circulates through the water and then comes back out the other side. Once the air goes through the water the water is suppose to remove odors and odor causing bacteria in the air. The system comes with 3 scents, vanilla, lime, and citrus. I typically like vanilla scent, but after putting it in the system it reminded me of a unpleasant smelling vanilla cleaning product! I also feel that the citrus might be the same. The lime seems like it might be o.k., but have not tried it yet. They definatly need to work on better smelling scents. Luckily, I own and use aromatherapy oils, and decided to try some in this, and although they do not last super long, they smell great and do not seem to affect the system, so it looks like I will be using them instead. Brethe adds humidity to the air, you can feel it, and it also seems to cool the air in the room some. It also does seem to clean the air and make it smell good. Plus if you like a "night" light, there is a option to have the water alluminated. I partially also wanted this because I sleep better with some white noise, I would say the white noise from the is equal to a fan being on low to medium, not real heavy, but noticable. It seems very easy to clean, the top silver part easily lifts right off of the base, there is a handle on the base where you put the water in, and you just sit the top part aside and fill the bottom, it fits in our bathroom sink which is nice, and makes it easy to fill! It does not have alot of parts so less to worry about breaking, and cleaning. All in all a great, simple machine, with several perks, does what it says, like I mentioned before, my only big complaint is the scents, if they work on those, this little system would be excellent! Makes the room smell great Easy to use and the scents smell great when you turn it on. I put in Lavender in the evening and my Yorkies and Chihuahua fall asleep quickly and rest through the night. It also helps keep away doggie smells. It does not add much moisture to the room and it has a loud white noise sound. It also has blue led lights that illuminate the water and make a nice night light at night. Manufacturer recommends that it is placed on a waterproof surface when in use. Have two of them and love them I have two of these. I use one in my livingroom and one in my family room. They DO work and work well. I have 3 cats and a dog. When the brethe machines are running the air in the house feels fresh and smells good. I do agree that the vanilla scent is horrible. The lime and citrus are ok, but I like the lavender the best. It smells wonderful. I thoroughly believe this does clean the air to some extent. When I turn mine off the remaining water had a brown tint to it a lot of the time. Obivously the Brethe is not going to be as effective as an air purifier, but it doesn't make those claims. I believe it does exactly what it says and I am very happy with it.

Quiet and surprisingly compact, the unit ensures healthier lungs and tidier rooms without drowning out the conversation. A charcoal pre-filter removes smells from tobacco smoke, cooking, pets and plants. Warning lights show when HEPA Filter and Pre Filter require cleaning or changing.
Best Value Purifier In this review, I will first summarize the major points and focus the details afterward. This way you can stop reading when you get the level of details you need. The definitions of "HEPA" and "CADR" are placed at the end of this review. Please vote for this review if you like it :) I appreciate it. **Kimmer (another reviewer) has kindly uploaded a wonderful youtube video to demonstrate the noise level, title: "Honeywell Enviracare 50250 air purifier". Since your computer speaker will affect the demonstrated noise level, make sure you gauge the noise to Kimmer's voice.** Pros: Powerful, inexpensive, permanent HEPA filter, easy to maintain, 360 degree air intake and output, portable, accessible replacement parts, good support from Kaz, a 5 year limited warranty. Cons: Noisy, high power consumption, not stylish. Previously I owned the Honeywell HFD-130 Germicidal Tower HEPA Air Purifier with Permanent IFD Filter, but due to its ozone emission and my respiratory problem, I returned it back to HomeDepot. I got fully refunded and bought this Honeywell 50250N on the same day and loved it. I have a mild allergy. I sneeze and experience itchy eyes when I am outdoor, but stop when I am at home (where my purifier is). I recommend two important points when shopping for a purifier: (1) always examines the CADR number. It is a decent performance indicator, (2) always buys an air purifier adequate for your need. A 100 sq ft purifier will not work for a 1000 sq ft living space. Honeywell 50250N is a true HEPA filter purifier with a 250 CADR, which translates into a recommended 375 square feet usage space. Currently, this purifier is being sold at ~$160. It has been quoted as the only purifier 99.97% of airborne particles that is 0.3 micrometer. The removal success rate is usually equal or higher for larger particles and for slightly smaller particles (down to ~0.01 micro), but performance drops drastically for much smaller particles. HEPA can effectively trap pollens, fine dust and smoke particles -- the major causes of allergy. "HEPA-type" and "HEPA-like" purifiers fall short of this requirement, and there is no strict guideline for their exact definitions. Historically, HEPA was a top-secret technology developed to filter radioactive aerosol, part of the Manhattan Project. HEPA is not designed to remove odors and VOC (volatile organic chemicals), since they are much smaller than the effective range of a HEPA filter. CADR (clean air delivery rate) is certified by the AHAM (Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers). CADR is expressed in units of cubic feet volume per minute. The suggested floor space is usually calculated based on a 8 foot ceiling and a 5 air change setting. For example, Honeywell 50250N produces 250 cubic feet of clean air per minute or 15000 cu ft per hour. Divides 15000 cu ft by a 8 ft ceiling and by a 5 air change equates to a recommended floor space of 375 sq ft. A shortcut is to multiple the CADR number by 1.5: e.g. 250 CADR X 1.5 = 375 sq ft. Although the recommended floor space value is easier to relate to, there is no legal guideline for the calculation. Neoair's most powerful purifier, Neoair Plus, has a suggested 600 sq ft floor space, much larger than that of Honeywell 50250N. In reality, Neoair Plus has a CADR

Excellent This is an excellent air purifier. It can also be used as a fan, which I use it to sleep at night. It is very quiet except on high setting. But what fan isn't noisy on the high setting? I cleaned the filter by running water through it under the sink. It had a collected a nice bit of dust that would have otherwise entered my lungs. bigger than i thought, better than i expected We bought this machine because we have a cat and my boyfriend is allergic to cats. Our place is small-medium sized apartment in a highrise so this machine is kinda perfect for us. THough we have 2 main rooms, living and bedroom. it works great in both rooms but once in a while we have to move the machine from room to room, but maybe also because of the floor plan layout of the apartment. This thing is big!..like about almost 3' tall i think. My boyfriend's allergies now got much better than before we bought it, he said. its easy to operate and move around ( theres a grip handle on top so you can grap, lift and move it around.)The filter is easy to clean-vacuum cleaning, it seems as though the filter cleaning time indicator button doesnt work.. but its easy to check, just pull the filter up and look. Overall, I think this product is a 4. Not bad, works great for the price, but if you can pay more than $150, I believe there s a more expensive but better one out there. Quiet and Does its Job I have had this air purifier for a few months now and find it to be useful and very quiet even on its highest setting. Much quieter than my old Bionnaire which it replaced. I mainly went with this model because you don't have to buy filters for it. On my Bionnaire, I could not longer find filters for it or they were ridiculously expensive. You end up paying for the unit over and over and over again with the replacement filters. I love my Honeywell!

Expensive but effective I am allergic to cats, so naturally I adopted two and I'm about to get a third. I was STRUGGLING with my allergies so started looking into air purifiers and found that Honeywell consistently had good reviews. This was a very new model at the time I purchased and I was a bit nervous about being a guinea pig but my allergies clicked the purchase button for me. I had to return the first unit because it started making a strange cyclic humming sound, kind of like the motor was getting tired - I'd only had it for about two weeks. Amazon Return Center is amazing and I had a replacement unit in two days. The second unit is great, I've had no problems so far. It's whisper-quiet (unless you crank it up to its highest setting, which isn't necessary) and I really notice a difference in the quality of the air. If I turn it off, I start getting the sniffles and itchy eyes in no time. I don't use the UV feature, but I do like the ionizer. ***UPDATE*** Unfortunately I've also had to arrange for the second unit to be returned, this time I contacted Honeywell directly. The purifier has been getting progressively more noisy and it sounds like the motor is straining. I'm really surprised because I have a couple of cheaper Honeywell units that have been on 24/7 for almost the last year and I have had absolutely no problems with them. I just don't think this unit is ready for the market yet. Honeywell customer service has been excellent, they were responsive and are going to exchange the purifier for one of their higher models at no charge. I think I might try the Rabbit Air purifier if the next unit I receive is not satisfactory. SIGH! Works well but filters hard to find This air purifier does a great job and has a very modern look. I also like that it provides hepa, ion and traditional filtration all in one unit. You have a choice of using the included washable filter or a replaceable odor blocking filter. I find that the odor blocking filter is the way to go, but ordering additional filters is a real pain. There is a web site and part number on the filter bag but it only comes up with "search not found." I have not found these filters available anywhere but from the manufacturer and since their web site doesn't work, be prepared to sit on the phone placing your order. Not bad, not perfect I am searching for an air purifier to take care of dust and germs. I had a sharper image pro gp and tried this one to replace it. The features are great and it does circulate the air well, the only downside for me personally is that at the lowest setting, you can still hear the fan. Some people don't mind or like the noise but I personally like machines you cannot hear. That's my only downside.

Burr!! My friend has this item. She showed me how to use it and it works incredibly well. I bought one and love it!! I then bought one for my sister who lives in Hawaii. They are shipping it to her for free!! Unheard of shipping to Hawaii let alone free! It really cools the air and is light and easy to move. You just put these cooling things in the freezer and add cold water. It does the rest! You will love it!! GARBAGE, DO NOT BUY! Wouldn't recommend this product. When I got this cooler the remote was already dead, the on/off button wouldn't work! It doesn't really cool the air that much. I have an older (10-year old) air cooler that I use at home which cooled my room better! Don't waste your money on this product! Total garbage! Cool? The product did not cool the air. It was just a fan. I called the service number to see if I was doing something wrong. I never was able to reach a person. I emailed the company and they never returned my call. I returned the product and got full credit.

As most allergy sufferers know, the home environment poses as great a threat of itchy eyes and running noses as the great outdoors. Airborne particles from dust, tobacco smoke, and mold spores provide plenty of discomfort indoors. Luckily the allergy-inflicted populace can actively combat these indoor irritants by regularly vacuuming carpets, dusting, and using an air purifier or allergen remover, like this model from Holmes. With HEPA filtration, the allergen remover elminates 99.97 percent of airborne allergens, as small as .3 microns. The appliance also fights unseemly odors with an absorbant carbon filter. The allergen remover features an understated design that adapts for upright or side placement. It fits nicely against a wall or into a corner. CADR-rated, the allergen remover accommodates medium rooms up to 418 square feet in area.A GE motor powers the allergen remover and four speed settings enable output options for the room's needs. The digital panel displays a timer for preset intervals of operation. An electronic filter monitor indicates when filters need replacement. This model uses Holmes filter models HAPF60PDQ-U and HAPF600PDQ-U for allergen and odor protection. As with any electrical appliance, read all manufacturer guidelines with care prior to use. Holmes covers this item with a limited 5-year warranty. The air purifier measures 22.42 by 21.43 by 10.44 inches and weighs 25 pounds upon shipping.
Quiet apparently effective but 3 hepa filters at $24 each Seems like a very good unit.. quiet air flow quite good but the only drawback that I can measure is the cost of the three ( 3 ) hepa filters at $24.95 each.. Maybe the filters are less somewhere other than Holmes.. can't seem to locate part no. HAPF600CS.. Would not take long to exceed the cost of a more expensive /presumably better unit that had longer life or self cleaning filters. Razor and Blade scenerio seems to be the typical marketing strategy for most of these types of units. Holmes HAP756 Review I purchased this product a week ago. I have asthma, allergies, two cats(so cat dander) and I have hard wood floors (so alot of dust all the time) It got so bad I would have coughing fits every day and night. I looked at many air purifiers which had permanant filters, but I would have to clean them every 3 months, I don't know about you, but I have enough to do without worrying if my unit is working because I forgot to clean the filters. Also I like that the true HEPA filters work more effectively and had better review overall on the internet reviews. I don't find it hard to invest 60 dollars a year on the filters, the large unit does almost my whole studio apt, whereas I would have to buy more than one of the other units. I think that this is a great value for price, and in one hour I could feel the difference, infact yesterday I thought the windows were open but they were not, the air purifier worked that well to clean the air. So far my coughing has all but gone away. This is a great product. Try it out. Remarkable the amount this unit traps We've had this unit for 5 months now and it is remarkable how much debris is captured in the carbon pre-filters. They are supposed to be replaced approximately every 6 months and I plan on that. However, I am vacuuming them every 2 months or so due to the amount trapped. Since we bought it we are experiencing very little dust on the surfaces in the bedroom where our unit is used. Someone complained about the cost of the filters as the HEPA filters should be replaced every 12 months at $20 per filter (price at Target--2 for $39.99), but if this unit continues to clean the way it has so far, I don't mind paying the approximately $75 for filters per year. That's not much considering what we do not have to breathe in and the significantly reduced cleaning of the window blinds. The Holmes HAP756-U significantly outperforms units we have elsewhere in our condominium.

Wow Impressive So my son had allergies (just like his Dad did) and had to get on medication. So we bought this air purifier. I was impressed that it cleaned over 3000 square feet for being so compact. It was very quiet. We ran it on the other side of the house from where my sons room was but the next day his allergies went away and he was able to get off his medication. About a week later I noticed my sons allergies came back. I called my husband at work and he said he decided to give it a rest for a day and had shut it off. We turned it back on and the allergies went away. My husband was a believer! Right after we turned it on I noticed the house smelled clean like fresh air or something. I think thats because it has 6 seperate stages of purification to clean out everything. Within 30 minutes of me plugging it in I noticed a difference in the air.

Zojirushi's air purifier offers a contemporary UltraSlim design, quiet operation, and is energy efficient. Features: Contemporary UltraSlim design measuring only 5-1/2 inches thick Quiet, virtual silence at low setting, only 27 dB Energy savings; features energy efficient 16-watt output at low setting For rooms up to 10 by 12-3/5 feet (126 square feet) High-efficiency fan filters pollen, tobacco smoke and odors High-performance HEPA-type filter can last up to two years under normal operating conditions Two fan speeds: high and quiet (virtual silence) Convenient, two-hour auto shut-off timer Replacement filter: PA-FLC07; includes one replacement filter and one deodorizing filter
Works well The previous reviewer apparently did not read the instruction manual. The Zoji does have a rapid mode that goes like gangbusters and then ramps down. But it also has other modes that stay on continuously for 36 hours. We are very happy with this machine, and would buy another. Nice and quiet yet still filters air enough Very quiet on low setting yet it still blows lots of air. High setting is a tornado of air but quite loud. Low is where it's at though, so you can have the air continuously filtered all day and night. It's not only quiet at low setting but there's no whine or high freq sounds. As I'm really sensitive to noise, I hesitated purchasing this unit at first since I heard a lot of other air cleaners in this price range be noisy. However, it is indeed very quiet! Physically the unit is about the size of a 19" LCD monitor so it takes up very little depth and could even be wall mounted if you desired! I put this unit in a room next to the cat liter box. Needless to say, the odor relief was welcomed and rapidly realized. Cat's not afraid of it being on since it's so quiet, doesn't bug her at all. simple and no frills Does the job. Air intake through the front grill face passes through HEPA and then a carbon filter and finally vents out the top. quiet mode is noiseless. Compact. Dimension is basically that of a 25" square lcd computer monitor. I don't have allergies or pets, so I don't know if it powerful enough in quiet mode - air vent feels like I'm gently blowing. In regular mode you can hear the fan and really feel the air blowing out the top. Company is Japanese, hardware made in China.

Sharp FP-N40CX Plasma Cluster Air Purifier/Fan System, White
From Sharp

Great for those who are sensitive to dust or allergens, the Sharp FP-N40CX combines passive air filtration with active air treatment to help clear the air of pollen and airborne irritants. Features Clean mode and Ion Control mode. The elegant design looks great in any room. Imported. 22-1/2Hx16-3/8Wx7-7/8L".
Amazon Sales Rank: #187679 in Kitchen & Housewares Brand: Sharp Model: FPN40CX Released on: 2004-01-15 Number of items: 1 Dimensions: 10.00" h x 19.00" w x 25.00" l, 20.00 pounds
Sharp's new air purifiers use both passive as well as active technology to enhance air quality. Triple filtration is the passive technology that consists of a pre-filter, an active carbon filter, and a true HEPA filter. The true HEPA and active carbon filters are replaceable and last up to five years. You can even clean the active carbon filter and pre-filter! Plasma Cluster technology is the active technology that releases positive and negative ions into the air to deactivate impurities. With AHAM-certified CADRs (Clean Air Delivery Rates), an elegant design, and possibly the quietest air purifiers in the industry, Sharp provides a solution to your air quality needs! The FP-N40CX will remove airborne impurities from a 253-square-foot room by utilizing both triple filtration and Sharp's patented Plasma Cluster technology. It also includes an odor sensor that can detect and react to impurities immediately. Features: Clean Mode is functioning when the indicator light is blue which signals that both positive and negative ions are being emitted into the air. Ion Control Mode emits additional negative ions in this mode. Nature does this near waterfalls or just after a thunderstorm! Pre-Filter is the initial filter that traps dust and other airborne particles. This filter may be cleaned with a vacuum or by hand washing. True HEPA filter traps particles as small as .3 microns and will last up to five years! Less maintenance cost means better value! Washable Active Carbon Filter helps remove odors and will last up to five years--one less maintenance cost to worry about! If the air purifier is used in auto mode 24 hours a day, you will need to clean the filter every two to three months with a solution of lukewarm water and mild detergent. Odor Sensor detects foul smells and other odors. Once detected, the air purifier will automatically modify the fan speed. Manual Operation allows the user to choose between four fan speeds and pollen mode. Timer can be set for one, four, or eight hours if desired!
Works okay, but why no dust sensor? I've had this air purifier for just over two months now. Before my purchase I researched many types of purifiers and this seemed like the best choice due to the price and the fact that it is at the very least a HEPA purifier. Even if the plasmacluster technology doesn't work at least you have a HEPA purifier with a filter that has a 5 year life span. My wife has severe allergies, and I was hoping that this purifier would make a difference. It has done that but not to the extent that I had hoped. For the money it was completely worth the little bit of comfort that it provides her. My biggest complaint about this purifier though is the lack of a dust/pollen sensor like the FP-N60CX. It seems to me that cleaning dust and pollen from the air is the grunt work of an air purifier, and odor control is more of a premium nicety. Sharp apparently sees things the opposite way as the FP-N40CX includes an odor sensor, but not a dust/pollen sensor. What this means is that the auto mode is fairly useless. I would gladly give up the odor sensor for a dust sensor. Though pricing has changed since my purchase, at the time it would have cost me half again as much to upgrade to the FP-N60CX, it just wasn't worth it. The end result is that I leave the fan in "pollen mode" and the plasmacluster in "clean mode". From my calculations this shouldn't cost me more than $10/year in electricity but I would much rather use the auto mode. If it isn't too much more to go with the FP-N60CX when you purchase I would highly recommend going with that. previous review is inaccurate There is a dust/pollen FILTER (same one as the -N60CX), but there isn't a dust/pollen "auto-cycle" SENSOR. So, there's a small difference in convenience, but not function or filtration. The only 2 differences between the larger -N60CX and this unit are (a) that sensor and (b) overall airflow/CADR. Sharp makes the Very Best What a great air cleaner this is. I just got it yesterday and it exceeded my expectations in many ways. I had read about how quiet this unit is so I expected it to be as quiet as it is, yet I didn't realize that the first three speeds are from ultra quiet to plain quiet. In other words it's hardly noticable. The airflow on all speeds is more than my two Orecks and this unit just plain looks great in any room. Although a bit larger in size it looks good enough so that's not a problem. I equate the size to more airflow thus that's a good thing. I had thought about the larger Sharp 60 model, but for the money this is the one I got. After rebates I just broke a C note for a brand new unit. What a deal, what a machine! I'm impressed enough I may order another one before the end of the year to take advantage of their $75 rebate special, which can be found looking around. Oh yes, one more thing. Just because the 40 unit does not include a dust sensor, which is why I need a cleaner in the first place, this unit does just as good a job of cleaning dust as the larger unit does, relative to its airflow. I'm operating this unit in our living room which is 18 x 20 with excellent results. This is a bigger room (360 sq, vs the 330 sq recommended for this size unit) and I probably could have bought the larger unit, but I'm totally happy with this one. The price/performance is one to be beat. From one to five stars I will give this a TEN STAR rating. Great Job Sharp!!!

Slant/Fin GF200 Germ-Free 2-Gallon Warm-Mist Humidifier
From Slant Fin

Patented Germ Free Warm Mist Humidifier with Ultra Violet (UV)Light Germicidal Chamber. Kills 99.999% of bacteria and molds and 99.99% of spores that live and breed in tank waters of humidifiers. Feel safe and assured that your family is breathing a warm, comfortable and germ free mist with the Slant/Fin GF-200 Germ Free Humidifier. Ordinary humidifiers breed microorganisms in their tank water and can spread germs throughout the house. The Slant/Fin humidifiers are the only humidifiers that use the exclusive dual germicidal process of ultraviolet light (UV) and vaporization (boiling) to kill 99.999% of bacteria and mold and 99.99% of spores that can breed in tap water. UV has long been used to eliminate bacterial contamination and stem bacterial growth in hospitals and science labs. Independent laboratory testing proves that exposure to UV light kills bacteria more effectively than boiling alone. The GF-200 has a medicine slot for vaporization of medicine. This helps relieve the symptoms of stuffy noses, congestion and sore throats.
Amazon Sales Rank: #303406 in Kitchen & Housewares Brand: Slant Fin Model: GF-200 Dimensions: 7.63 pounds
With a 2-gallon water-tank capacity, this warm-mist humidifier can humidify continuously for up to 24 hours without needing a refill. Using the exclusive dual germicidal process of ultraviolet light (UV) and vaporization (boiling), the unit delivers virtually 100-percent germ-free mist, killing the bacteria, mold, and spores that can live and breed in the water tanks of humidifiers. The unit's built-in medicine slot allows for the vaporization of medicine, which helps relieve the symptoms of stuffy noses, congestion, and sore throats. Its stainless-steel hot-water reservoir makes the cleaning of mineral buildup easier, and the minerals in hard water do not enter room air and settle on surfaces, so there's no white dust. For added convenience, there are no filters, wicks, or cartridges to replace, and the unit's quiet fan operation makes it ideal for use even while sleeping. The humidifier measures 14-1/4 by 7-3/4 by 11-1/4 inches and carries a three-year limited warranty.
Former (very loyal) Slant Fin Customer -- a big problem I usually do not write reviews here. However, because of my experience with ALL of the Slant Fin humidifiers that I have purchased over the past 4 years (GF200 and GF300), I wanted to let others know that there are issues with the products.GOOD: Humidification: The output is not great and is not suitable for large open rooms. For enclosed rooms like bedrooms or playrooms, they work very well. The plus is the warmth of the moisture (this is essentially a boiling pot). Occasionally, gurgling aside (from boiling), they are quiet.GOOD?: "Bacteria free" operation: UV lights and boiling supposedly make the products "virtually bacteria free," always a good thing.NOW BAD: Cleaning and maintenance: Our water is neither hard nor soft (Lake Michigan water in Chicago suburbs). The mineral buildup/scaling is very substantial on plastic and metal parts and very hard to clean. Given that they need to be cleaned every week or so, it is very time-consuming.NOW REALLY BAD: All of the Slant Fin humidifiers that I have owned had problems with water level sensors. The electrodes (2 each in GF 300) get corroded and rust away after 1 or 2 years (usually shortly after the expiration of warranty). The two probes (spaced about an 1/2 inch), when dipped in water, apparently transmit/receive a very low voltage electricity, completing a control circuit and indicating there is water in the tank. If they don't transmit electricity (i.e., no water in the tank), the boiling pot turns itself off. The problem is that the metal probes get corroded and get covered with rust/corrosion. Because they don't transmit/receive electricity, even if there is plenty of water in the unit, the unit shuts itself off. Initially, you can scrape the corrosion/mineral buildup on the metal probes with your finger nails. Eventually, the metal probes/electrodes literally rust away. That literally renders the entire unit inoperable and, thus, worthless. NOW THE ABSOLUTE WORST: "Customer Service": I have sent emails, written letters and left voice mail messages. I asked whether I could buy the probes or send the units back for service. I have NEVER received any response. It is also very hard to get any live person. When I did get a person at the "customer service" department, that person claimed that she did not work in that department and transferred me to the "right" department, sending me into the voice mail maze hell, only to get disconnected after 10 minutes.OVERALL ASSESSMENT: The product works well, as intended, for about a year or two. The promise of "bacteria free operation" and warm moisture made me forget about the extremely burdensome cleaning. I recommended these products to all of my friends and relatives in the first year of operation, accounting for as many as 20+ units. Given that a large majority of them are having the same problems as my units, I think this is a serious design defect that Slant Fin is refusing to address. I am sorry that I bought and recommended these units. Thus, given what appears to be a serious design flaw (re water-level probes) coupled with the worst customer service I have ever experienced for a consumer product, I can no longer recommend any Slant Fin humidifiers. Great idea, poor quality, lack of customer service I purchased this (Slant Fin GF200) warm mist humidifier with the idea of "germ free" in mind. The idea of having a germ free humidifier is great! The UV bulb killing bacteria, and the mineral pad absorbing any minerals work well (as far as I know). I have owned this unit for approximately a month. I thought buying distilled water would be too expensive. So, I purchased extra mineral pads expecting hard water to be an issue. Anticipating the worst, I was prepared. Let me tell you, this unit requires lots of "love" or maintenance (if you want to get down and dirty). I cleaned the unit (resevoir in particular) frequently, every 5-7 days. I replaced the mineral pads when needed, usually at cleaning time (again, 5-7 days). Scale buildup was terrible -- even with the frequent cleanings! After alot of elbow grease or grunt work (and vinegar), I got things cleaned in about 20-30 minutes. Then, I started to notice the coating (stainless steel) on the reservoir flaking off and rusting. First it was one spot, then it was 3-4 spots. This, IMHO, is poor quality! I am currently trying to get the product returned for repair, even though I strongly believe that it would happen again. After paying close to $100 for the humidifier and extra mineral pads, I would have expected better quality for Slant-Fin! In conclusion: If you have hard water, avoid this humidifier. The mineral pads help with hard water, but they can't take all of the minerals out of your water, to prevent the scale buildup. Unless you replace the pads every other day. If you use distilled water, you may have better results, but you pay the extra for the "pure" mineral-free water. Pros: great idea/concept, humidifies well, simple, quiet. Cons: poor quality, expensive, needs lots of maintenance, scale buildup, purchasing extra mineral pads and/or UV bulbs. Update #1: The company has failed to reply to email for warranty service. My next step is the Better Business Bureau. Stay away from this company!!! Update #2: I finally received a reply from Slant-Fin (Canada, mind you -- I guess they actually care). They forwarded it on to a represetative in the U.S. I sent the unit back (pre-paid) and about 1 month later I received the unit back. They appeared to fix the rust issue. They didn't really clean up the unit very well with particles of metal within the unit (where the water would be -- not very healthy)! I am betting this will be the last winter season I get use out of it. As of right now, it is in storage. I am happy I got the unit in for service. I am still very unimpressed by this company. Next time I will buy from a well-rounded company like Honeywell. I suggest others to do the same. Too much work!!!!! I have to agree with several other reviewers on many points about both the good and bad of this unit. But the bad far outweigh the good! I bought it for my new infant, and purchased it before winter so that I had it on hand for his first illness. Luckily he didn't get sick for several months, but now that I have tried it (months past the time I can return it) I discover it is horrible, here are my big complaints: The noise level is just loud enough when it gurgles to wake the baby from a light sleep. But the worst is the maintenance. With a small infant I don't have time for a lot of extra cleaning and this requires a lot - and most of the manufacturers info available online doesn't tell you this. It says weekly cleaning, but I can tell you for a fact that if you let water sit in the unit unused for 24 hours you will have slimy water. So now you have to empty and dry the thing out daily. And God forbid you have hard water as we do. I can't wait a week to scrub the scale off the unit as it says in the instructions. If the unit is run every night I'd have to scrub the scale off every day or two. I purchased it from a different store, but I did a lot of research online about what units are recommended. But I didn't look here to read consumer input. And I really wish I had. I hope that others reading this will run from this product! I also hope the store will take mine back.

Best I've ever used I got this to humidify my kids room. Previously we had been using the old vick vaporizer but it only put out for about 6 hours and had some other issues with getting the mineral content of the water just right. Anyway this is without a doubt the best humidfier I've ever used. Setup was a little confusing at first (where little parts went. The tube hole through the tank was a little disconcerting but after I understood its function I saw it wasn't going to slosh water everywhere. For a humidfier it has a amazing number of options. Warm Mist vs Cool I had always used "warm mist" but my wife wanted "cool mist", this was the only one that had both. Warm and cool are relative terms however. When I think of warm mist I think of the Vicks which can scald you if you get to close. It heats the room up in operation. This device the warm mist is sort of warm. It takes a few minutes to warm up and if you put your hand over the output you can feel its warm but not hot. It goes to warm by pre-heating the water before it hits the vaporizer. In cool mist it just vaporizes. Output- You have two output controls, relative humidity and mist volume for lack of a better term. Think of it as fan speed (but no fan)You set the humidity and it spits out water as needed. I don't know where the sensor is but the position of the output nozzel can really affect its reading. The tank seems to hold enough water for 24 hours of output or 2-3 nights of use. The output is plenty adequate for a bedroom. Controls- Lots of controls on/off, heat/no heat, humidity, output, timer, auto mode and more. This is the big difference betwen this and the lower end model. Someone finally figured out how to put a timer on a humidifier (imagine that). So it runs as many hours as you set it. The sleep mode sets all settings automatically and runs 8 hours. I love it. Noise- What noise, this thing is silent. No bubbling or hissing or fan noises. Filling the tank- Take it out, flip it, unscrew the deminerlization cartridage and fill er up. Not the most stable but it works. Carry handle makes it easy to take back. Its everything you could possibaly want in a humidifier. Low maintence, easy enough to fill, quite, lots of settings for any need. Beats the heck out of the old vicks and some fan based whicking mold catching filter units I've used. The closet thing I ever had was a drugstore one that spit out the good stuff for 15 minutes and then broke. This is a quality product (and price) and should last (I've had it 2 weeks at the time of writing). It may be expensive but it does what you want and will outlast many of the others. If you've got the money its worth it. Indeed the Best Humidifier on Market I went to a local Bed Bath and Beyond to find silent or near silent humidifier. Salesman introduced this Air-O-Swiss as the best machine on market. He added Venta-Sonic does the same job but costs $50 less, and all other brands can't compare. I bought both units to compare. Air-O-Swiss is a clear winner, hands down. The two machines sat side-by-side. It's clear immediately to everyone that Air-O-Swiss is quieter. Even at highest setting, Air-O-Swiss' noise level and frequency are lower than Venta-Sonic's, and they blend nicely into background. They don't give me headaches as Venta-Sonic. At lower settings, Air-O-Swiss can be virtually silent. With Air-O-Swiss on, I slept very well. The next night was Venta night. Unfortunately, the base machine noise was just as bad as the first unit that I returned earlier for noise problems. I tried to go to sleep with it on but after a few hours, headaches and agitation from the noise made me shut it off and switch on Air-O-Swiss and slept through afterwards. I kept on alternating units days and nights to observe results from continued operation. After three days, Venta-Sonic unit began to add that strange squeeking noise. Air-O-Swiss gave consistent good near silent performance...and going strong still. Just based on noise-level alone, I had to return Venta-Sonic even though Air-O-Swiss costs $50 more. But that extra costs are further justified by the following: 1. Consistent Performance - I can put Air-O-Swiss on automatic mode with preset humidity level before I go to sleep, when I wake up, my bedside humidity reader (far away from the machine) has within 1% margin of error to the preset desired level. Venta-Sonic however, I can put it to MAX settings, and I get only around 32% sometimes and other times anywhere below 50%. 2. Greater Output Capacity - My bedroom is 300 square feet+, half of 600 both machines claim can cover. Air-O-Swiss comfortably reaches my desired level (b/w 40% and 50%) with lower settings (It can go as high as 75%, I only set it up to 50%). Venta-Sonic labors over 8 hours at MAX settings and gets me LESS humidity! It won't get me above 50%. 3. Ease of Use with Digital Control - I like Air-O-Swiss' Auto Mode with Desired Humidity Setting. The machine adjusts output automatically. Venta-Sonic only has two dials, you'll have to experiment for a while to find the optimal settings. As soon as atmospheric humidity changes, which can be daily or a few hours, you'd have to re-adjust again...that's like shooting darts in the dark all the time, you can get close if lucky but never on target. 4. Better Mist Venting Notch Design - I put both machines on 3-feet-tall dresser. Air-O-Swiss' notch is tilted higher than Venta's. This means when operating cold mist, Air-O-Swiss's disappears into air vs. some Venta's still hit the floor - not enough to form condensation but less efficient in humidifying - perhaps that contributes to Venta's lower output previously mentioned. 5. Better Craftsmanship - Venta-Sonic is a notch below Air-O-Swiss, appears to be made simpler and CHEAPER. Filter changes and clean up are similar. Venta needs to change filter cup. Air-O-Swiss needs filter cup and once-a-year silver stick change. Both are fool proof. Venta filters are more expensive but Air-O-Swill has extra silver stick. Cost-wise it's similar. I like Air-O-Swiss's option of replacing resins - just dump old resin in filter cup and put new packet in and you get a NEW filter - this cuts cost by almost 65% and less trash for the environment. Water tank design is similar. Both fills water upside down. I still prefer Air-O-Swiss because the top is more leveled, easier to sit in sink or bath tub than Venta's tilted top. When moving Venta-Sonic, water spilled between base and tank. I had no problem with Air-O-Swiss. Anything Air-O-Swiss can improve? Sure! The humidity reader on the machine is adjusted about 13% lower than actual average room humidity. They probably did it to ensure average humidity far away from the unit reaches target, but I think they can do so internally without having to show it. It would be a mistake to read the room humidity off that machine. After I got the machines, I googled on both. There was one review elsewhere saying that Venta-Sonic broke after a month and half, out of store 30-day warranty and owner took a loss. Air-O-Swiss has 3 year warranty, if I remember correctly, Venta 1 year. The trouble I went through is worth the finding of the right humidifier for me. Hope this helps those with similar concerns! Great Product My wife has severe allergies and even though she is a clean freak, up until now we could not find anything that could help her. We own two dogs and the combination of the odor and dander was just debilitating. We bought this product about 3 weeks ago. After the 3rd day the change was noticeable. Our house does not smell like dogs and she has not sneezed once (she used sneeze at least 50 times from the time she entered the house in the afternoons until she went to bed!) She also used to take 3 different allergy pills, now the combination of just Zertec and this product has literally eliminated her allergies and asthma. Automatic features work very well. I am very pleased with the performance of the Winix Air Cleaners. They work very well. I really like the automatic way they adjust the fan speed. They have two sensors. One detects odors and another detects dust. It automatically adjusts the speed based on these sensors. They really do work. If I spray some air freshener, even in another room, the units immediately detects the "odor", the odor light turn on, and the fan speeds up. The downside is that if you are the type of person that wears a lot of perfume or sprays room freshener around, the unit will be working hard to clear the air. It works just as well for dust. For example, If my dog shakes himself near the unit, probably disbursing some dust or dander into the air, the dust sensor lights up and the unit goes into high speed mode. It also has a sleep mode which prevents the unit from going into high speed mode in a darkened room. It's a great product and seems very reasonably priced compared to the competition. So far so good Well I just purchased this air purifier after extensive research on-line--this machine seemed like it was the best value and quality for its price range. There are other machines ranked a bit higher but they will cost at least $100-$200 more and it didn't seem like you would be getting that much more value. I decided if we liked this one in our bedroom it would still be cheaper to buy a second one for our living room than to buy one of the other brand's larger and more expensive versions. It came today and within an hour my boyfriend and I both seemed to already notice a difference. The air feels fresher and cleaner--and smells better. Not to mention it is really quiet--even on high. The only mode that is a bit more noticeable is Turbo and even that just sounds like a fan turned on high. It was easy to set-up and is easy to use. I will have to check back in again after a longer period of use to report on whether we experience a long term noticeable difference on our allergies.
